Featured Member Submission Guidelines
Tell us your story!

Independent Sector members can share their successes through our Featured Member section. These stories give people in the nonprofit and philanthropic community an opportunity to learn from each other and to identify future partners with shared interests. Your stories are highlighted in several places on the site, enabling us to showcase a range of projects and programs.

Send your stories to membership@independentsector.org.  As you prepare them, please follow these guidelines:
  1. FOCUS ON IMPACT -- This is an opportunity to showcase how your organization is improving lives and communities, and that is much easier to do if you concentrate on how you make a difference.
  2. Include two or three high resolution photos if possible. We all know the power of pictures, particularly if they include faces. If you have a short video that helps demonstrate your impact, send us that as well -- a QuickTime file is ideal.
  3. 150 words or less. While we reserve the right to edit any submission for language and length, we hope to keep your words intact as much as possible, and we are less likely to make changes if your item is tightly written.
  4. Provide a little background about the situation. Explain the problem or need you're addressing, and say a little about the population with which you're working.
  5. Minimize description of your organization. The page that contains the full story will have a link to your website, so don't use up your 150 words by detailing your mission, etc.
